The 25th Winter Universiade was held in Erzurum, Eastern Anatolia in Turkey, from 27th January til 6th February, 2011. The Universiade, a combination of the words ‘University' and ‘Olympiad,' is organized under the International University Sports Federation (FISU).
Facilities built for Universiade 2011 constitute the biggest sports investment Turkey has made for a single sports event up until today. Among the new facilities include a 3,000-seat hockey arena, a 500-seat hockey arena, a new alpine ski facility, a cross-country ski facility, a curling rink and ski jumping towers. Most of the facilities were built in the last year (2010).
The construction of the ski jumping facility included five ski jumps: K95 and K125 - the only one in Turkey - as well as K20, K40 and K60, all of which were equipped with the EVERLSIDE Plastic Matting System for summer use and EVERSLIDE Snow Blocking Net System for winter operation.
The ski jumps were ready in November 2010 and officially opened in FIS Continental Cup in December 2010.
